Re: Whitby Again

Here is the reply I have just received from Robert Goodwill MP. The negative attitude towards motorhomers and campervanners is pretty evident. None of the CAMpRA points I put to him and SCB have been addressed. In fact, he has also cited that the Esplanade in Whitby is now out of bounds! It is with ...

Re: Highland Council ; Tourism Committee Meeting 17 March 2021.

30 Sept 2021: a little update on a couple of the above. Portree now has approx another 15(?) motorhome/campervan spaces plus CWD and fresh water. All spaces are along water's edge, which is lovely. Still no overnight parking. Sleat Community Trust have got no further with their 8 van Aire facility. ...

Re: Whitby Again

I have, to date, emailed Robert Goodwill MP, all of the Scarborough Borough Council members, reiterated all of the suggestions to the Yorkshire Coast BID team and the W&NY Chamber of Commerce and a member of Whitby Town Council who (according to Council Meeting minutes seemed to be on the side o...

Re: Whitby Again

I have now emailed Whitby Chamber of Commerce and Yorkshire Coast BID team in the hope they can put some pressure on SBC to change their course re motorhome parking - even if just for the Winter season - would be a start? I have tried to include ALL the points myself, CAMpRA and others have raised s...

Re: Whitby Again

This is exasperating. Earlier this year I contacted EVERY member of Scarborough Borough Council (that's a LOT of people) and only received 4 replies - a ratio of less than one in ten ๐Ÿ™„. I followed this up with many other emails - toing and froing - giving CAMpRA's details etc. A couple of the replie...

RUDSTON VILLAGE PUB STOPOVER

Saturday 19 June 2021: Spoke to the landlady at The Bosville Arms in the village of Rudston (just outside Bridlington). She said they welcome campervans/motorhomes - if you eat at the pub it is free, if not they ask for a donation of 'a tenner in the box'. This is fair as this pub has only recently ...

U Turn Over Cowbar at Staithes

U turn over Cowbar at Staithes ๐Ÿ˜ (doesn't exactly say motorcaravans are welcome - but it's a start). Great result though for everyone who sent emails and letters objecting๐Ÿ‘

Re: Scarborough

Thanks Steve. I've already replied to him asking for a more comprehensive answer re the 1960 Act - citing other Councils/LAs up and down the country who have managed to circumvent this 'law' by providing parking of and sleeping in 'vans overnight. Also mentioned re Councils having prerogative to iss...

Contacting Councils

I'm in a similar position as yourself: I am currently communicating with Scarborough BC re overnight parking of & sleeping in motorcaravans - SBC being another very large tourist area who have a blanket ban on overnight parking for us in vans. Of the 40 or so Councillors I emailed, only 4 have r...
