Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
Yeah - difficult one isn't it. Once you know that their website has the 'rules', it's hard to forget their existence isn't it. We're sick of feeling like pariahs because we want to visit places in our motorhome - fearing 'the knock' and the upset it can cause. That's why we'd just rather go to place...

Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
Unfortunately, the NYC website has a specific Abbey Headland Car Park webpage which cites the restrictions on motorhomes/overnight sleeping in vehicles etc (link at end of this message). I've been banging my head against a brick wall for some years with the last County Council, both Whitby and Scarb...

Re: Clean Air Zone : Bath & Bristol
We received the exemption for our motorhome the other year - involved sending a few attachments online of various documents.
*NB you must remember to renew online every year in order to retain the exemption - this is a quicker process than the original exemption application.

Re: Helmsley stopping overnighting
Not wanting the subject of Helmsley's overnight parking to die a death, I contacted North Yorkshire Council recently via their new website. (NYC is the very newly formed council - amalgamating many existing NY town/district councils). My enquiry was forwarded to Adrian Hamilton. I had stated in my e...

Re: National Trust
Went to Aira Force in Ullswater last weekend in February 2023. We spoke to a member of staff about staying the night in our motorhome (£10 charge). He said to 'make the most of it' as the permission ends on 1st March 2023. He didn't say if they would be considering recommencing at any point in the f...

Overnight Parking Charges Cowbarn, Staithes 2023
Council have now installed a pay to park machine at Cowbar car park. Various daytime hourly charges - £15 overnight - pay online facility. Doesn't appear to mention no overnight sleeping in vehicles - so presume £15 overnight applies to campervan/motorhomes? Who knows

Re: Whitby Again
Mr Goodwill replied (sort of). Thanking me for the email, saying he'd forward it to SCB.....he obviously doesn't want to get involved. This is around the fourth time I've sent him, SCB and Whitby Town Council correspondence/photo's of empty car parks in their area/examples of other UK Councils and t...

Re: Whitby Again
I've just sent (yet another) email to Robert Goodwill MP, Chamber of Commerce and Whitby Town Council attaching the latest news report regarding Gwynned's French style Aires project. Just trying to keep the argument 'alive' with Scarborough Borough Council re their oddly negative attitude to motorho...
