I have just heard from the Borders Events Centre that they are working on increasing caravan usage on the site and our information has been passed to the trustees.

The borders events Centre, also known as Springwood showground is not, at present, open to anyone. It normally hosts rallies, dog shows etc. It is not open as a normal campsite.

I am happy to take this on as I was brought up in the Borders and know most of the towns and attractions well. I am not too good with IT and may need help with that. Highland council have been very pro active in encouraging new Aires. They saw the chaos this summer and instead of banning and barriers are working on sensible solutiins. Hopefully we will have more information on new Aires before tourist traffic is flowing North again.

The car park at Hawick is a SBC one. It is the local business group "welcome to Hawick" who have lobbied to have the aire on the Haughs car park. As Steve sayes send the Hawick report (which is in files) when you approach councillors.

The aire at Lochhore Country Park is £10 for parking in a dedicated area. There is water and waste disposal available. Also some EHU points at an extra £2.50.

Scottish Borders Council have signs in all of their car parks, except Hawick, banning overnight parking. If you live in the Scottish Borders can you please contact your local councillor to explain about the benefits of motorcaravan parking. Sending them the strategy document is a good start. If you ...
