Allerdale Borough Council ; Application Reference FUL/2020/0505. Location; Maryport Marina, Marine Road, Maryport, Carlisle, CA15 8AY.
Application: Change of Use. Proposal: Replacement of previous planning approval FUL/2020/0108 for change of use and extension to existing caravan park an toilet facilities building to provide 3 camping pods, 8 touring caravan pitches and 3 motorhome pitches. Together with associated external works and fencing.
Status: Under Consultation.

1.0 The site
The application is for revised proposals following a Previous Planning approval ref FUL/2020/0108.
Revisions include a reduction in the number of Camping pods to 3 units and an increase in the
number of Caravan pitches together with a reduction in the size of the toilet facilities building.
The application site is currently vacant grassed land between the marina and the River Ellen which all
forms part of Maryport Harbour and Marina
The proposed site extends to 9600m2 (including the existing caravan site) within the 52764m2 overall
site occupied by the Marina. The application site has a harbour frontage with the main access road to
the rear. The land is currently grassed bounded by a tarmac access road.
There is currently an area in use as a caravan park for approx. 10 units which previously received
planning. Also in the recent past a small café was built at the Harbour offices which serves the general
public, the caravan park and Harbour users.
Mains water, gas, electricity and drainage already service the site.

2.0 The proposal
The existing Caravan park as proved successful and in high demand and therefore the application is to
extend the current caravan park onto the existing grassed area to provide a further 18 hardstanding’s
to allow for caravans and associated vehicles to pitch. To cater for other groups there is an area set
aside for the installation of 3 timber pods adjacent the new Toilet Block. At the furthest point of the
site and sitting on the existing hard paving is 3 designated locations for motor homes.
The current Caravan Park utilises the Harbour toilet and showers adjacent the Harbour offices. The
proposal is to provide a dedicated toilet/shower block for the current and new caravan park with the
Harbour toilets serving the general public and Marina users. The toilet block includes a bathroom and
an assisted shower room/WC.
A Pre-planning advice application was made in early 2020 (PPA/2020/0006) and the conclusion stated
the general principle of an extension to the caravan park could be supported.

Thanks Paul, so this is a campsite extension not a new Aire?
