Parking on Hayling Island beach

Post by Motorhome-oldtimer »

Has any one here tried to challenge Havant Borough council over the outrageous price hike for parking motorhomes & vans on Hayling Island beach.
They have totally banned overnight parking which had been tolerated in a specific area and are now charging £15 for any time period for all motorhomes, vans and campervans. Total discrimination and uneccessary as there is ample space there and it was the one place you could go to stay by the sea for a few hours which was relatively unregulated in as far as where and how to park . Now it is rigorously enforced as though they want to drive motorhomes and campers away even in the winter months . I have written to them with no response. :o

My recent post on this seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know if there is any action on this subject at the moment?

Hi. I have been in touch with Havant council twice in the last year or so regarding the Hayling Island parking situation. The first time I got a couple of replies from Hayling councillors who were opposed to the parking charges and eager to help. However, I didn’t receive a reply from the councillor with the overall remit for parking in the borough. So that went nowhere. I waited until after the local elections in earlier in the year when the political makeup of the council changed completely. I have since had some very positive replies, there a definitive improvement in engagement and a willingness to address the issue.

I’m determined to follow this up and keep the pressure on.

(I’ve attached a copy of the email I sent the council for reference)
