What are the typical costs a farmer might incur to establish a basic 5-van Aire, beyond the initial application (e.g., in terms of ground preparation, signage, or basic services)?

It depends uf they have suitable access and condition of the ground.

But basically, if they have a level area with access, they only need the £50 admin fee and public liability insurance for a 5 van site.
Some farm insurances add it for a small cost, if not we recommend club-care, who offer specialist insurance for a 5 van site, from £115.

Remember that an Aire is basic overnight parking for self contained Motor Caravans, these are not campsites, no tents of any description and no caravans.

Min outlay, min administration.

They can register with Airestop UK , as an host site for free. Visitors can book and pay via the app.

It’s also important to remember that an Aire is for basic overnight parking for self-contained motor caravans only — no tents or caravans allowed. Minimal cost, minimal admin.
