Swanage news

Post by Steve »

My response to the article in Swanage News and their reply:

Message: Great to see that Dorset council are introducing measures to stop the disgusting behaviour of last year. It is also pleasing to see that they are looking to find overnight parking for self contained motorcaravans who have onboard facilities including their own toilets in their isolated covid safe mobile homes.
Campra.org.uk started has grown from 200 members in July to 17,000 to date all promoting the benefits of providing simple parking and waste points (required every few days) to allow us to support the local shops and hospitality in the same way as the rest of Europe.
A simple solution and an attitude to embrace our 386,000 UK motorcaravans could release a potential £1 billion of revenue for our local economy.
And all we require is a safe place to park (not camp) and simple fresh water tap and toilet emptying point every few days.
A great opportunity for car wash, public toilets, clubs, village halls etc to raise much needed funds by simply charging a small fee to allow us to empty a cassette and top up out water.
Its such a simple solution recognised all over Europe with only the UK losing out.

Hi Steve
Thank you for your email. Swanage.News is only reporting on the proposals and not implementing them. The best person to contact with your ideas is Cllr Ray Bryan, Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment.

His contact details are mailto:cllrray.bryan@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk

Kind regards,
Helen
