Northumberland Sleep Out to Help Out:
Five units attended each night. The first venue was in Alwinton and the second in Embleton in one of our first Northumberland Aires.
The weather was reasonably kind on the first day and the group managed a litter pick. They reported having some really delicious food including homemade rhubarb crumble. They also ate lunch in the surrounding areas and bought some goods on their travels as follows:
Parking fees: £75

Local community spend: £146.98
The weather was awful at the second venue which meant we were unable to carry out any litter picks and, sadly, missed out on trying the walk from the venue straight across fields to the village and beach. However, everyone enjoyed the meals that were collected from the local hotel and eaten in our motorcaravans. Another positive was that the TV signal was good. We then travelled 3 miles to have a brunch at a local coffee shop only to find that the owners had gone to a wedding and the manager was serving only coffee & cake. Instead we went to a cafe about 5 miles away and had a fantastic brunch - some members commented that it was the best vegetarian breakfast they'd ever had.
The second night provided a great opportunity for us to give the owner some useful feedback and - just a few tweaks as the venue is excellent. It also gave us the opportunity to speak to the owners of both cafes and suggest they allow overnighting too.
Spend for the second night:
Parking fees: £50
Meals from nearby hotel: £122.45
Brunch at nearby cafe: £74.95
There was no local spend as the weather meant everyone stayed in their units most of the time and went home after brunch.
