Photos of possible locations

Post by Steve »

Please post a photo and details of potential sites for an Aire or waste point in your location with who owns the land if known, we will direct councils and tourism bodies to this page.
If you are able to make contact please put the brief details: contact name and details, date contacted, method of contact.
These could be disused car parks, closed businesses like car sales plots, public toilets, clubs etc or car parks empty at night.
Use your imagination but consider access for larger vehicles and away from residential areas.

First post & not sure if this is any help but loads of land still empty in Prestonpans east lothain. It's where the old power station was. Council have been saying for years they are doing something with it but still haven't. I have included a photo of the sign outside the land with the information on it.

Thank you for the information on the old power station site in East Lothian. ELC had a consultation about overnight parking last year when they received many comments asking for better provision for motorcaravan overnight parking. This is really useful to go with the comments they received then. Are you local to Prestonpans, Wolf? If so do you have any contacts with local councillors or council officers? It might be worth speaking to your local council and directing them to the Business Hub on this webpage. If you would like any help please pm me. Meg (Biggarmac)

Thanks for the quick response & I'm not to far away from the old power station about 3 miles. Relatively newish to the area (5years) & unfortunately I don't have any contacts with local councillors or council officers. Only time you see or hear from them is when they need your votes or something, they promise you everything yet deliver nothing. It just seems a waste of space that the council could be collecting revenue from until they have sorted what they are doing with the land.

It might be worth looking on the ELC website to find out who your local councillor/councillors are. You never know they might be receptive to the idea of using a bit of the land for an aire. The problem with big sites like this is until they have a big developer onboard they won't allow small bits to be used. I'll contact someone I know who lives in the area and see if they have any insider knowledge.

Will have a look once we get back home as away down south visiting family at the moment until the10th. Hopefully the person that lives in the area might know some more. If not will ask some questions once home.
