Thank you for this article. I will try and check the substance of the article. Sometimes they are not altogether accurate.

There are 2 new signs at the small parking area at Mayfield in Kelso that state that you can park during the day, but no overnight camping or sleeping is allowed.
The second sign then directs anyone looking for overnight sleeping in the van to go to Springwood Park.

Not sure how friendly this makes Kelso for motorhomers as Springwood are not geared up for this.

I should add to this post after checking the signs again. The problem with directing people to Springwood is that they are not set up as a campsite that you can either book in advance or just turn up. It is only set up as a campsite to cater for when events are on in the park that require people to stay, or if you are attending a rally with one of the groups.

Interesting so they pass plans for Springwood to operate as a campsite then put in restrictions to force you to use the campsite?

There is nothing on Springwoods site that says they accept motorcaravans or caravans just that they have a campsite available if booking the venue.

The council appears to have passed the plans for a campsite expecting it to be used for visiting motorcaravans but it does not look like this will be possible.
Maybe a letter asking the council how touring motorcaravans can stay on the campsite with no way of checking availability and no idea of cost?

It does not appear that it will address any issues and we would be forced to drive on to the next town again

Springwood Park is the Borders Events Centre at Kelso. There are no plans to open it as a conventional campsite. The planning permission was sought to allow groups who do not have their own exemptions to hold rallies to have meets and rallies on the site. They do not have the staff to open as a campsite except for special events.

Exactly my understanding so we need to highlight this to the council if they are erecting signs directly motorcaravans to Springwood.

I will contact the management at BEC to see if they are aware of this.
