Survey for Gwynedd residents

Post by Steve »

If you live in North Wales please complete the survey.
With a significant rise in the number of people choosing to visit Gwynedd in motor homes, the Council is keen to hear the views of residents on how best to manage the situation.

A perceived problem is that the provision of 'free' or low cost overnight sites takes away much needed trade from the local campsites- not such a problem this year as places are overflowing- but in your average rainy summer some places can struggle.

This concern feeds through to those in the LA who would be resonsible for looking at provision of 'aires' and suchlike, then becomes a political hot potato, which ultimately gets kicked into the long grass.

result- inertia.

Gwynedd have had a copy of two key documents attached that show why Aire do not take trade from local campsites but not having them does take trade from other struggling local businesses.
Wales has 3 of the 5 campsites in the UK who recognise the need for simple overnight parking spots and have added these to their campsites.

We are want campsites to provide for touring motorcaravans not expecting us to act like a caravan setting up camp, a lot of sites in Wales are grass, sloping, closed for winter and away from towns.
Aire provide safe authorised overnight parking for those who are not using campsites but parking elsewhere.
