Setting up a black waste disposal point

Post by CeciliaFreer »

Hi, we’d really like to add black waste disposal to our Aire facility but we have no mains sewerage and our septic tank wouldn’t cope with additional waste. Adding a new septic tank is not an option - way out of our budget even if we could get planning permission. We need a simple, cost effective solution. Access for emptying is not a problem.

Has anyone got any contacts or know of solutions used at sites in similar situations? I think I heard that some places had used IBC storage containers - anyone seen, used or have this set up?

I’ve read a guide from Scottish Water/Highland Council/SEPA but still none the wiser.

Thanks,
Cecilia & Greg at Glenbuchty Stopover Aire, Fraserburgh

Thanks Steve, I’d tried searching the site but didn’t try service point as key words. Having got bogged down (quite literally 🤣) in the SEPA/Scottish Water document I’m looking forward to reading yours 🤞 as we’d really like to be able to provide the service, and would do so with fair pricing.

The SEPA document comes across as a deterrent to adding facilities with some exorbitant costings.

A tip if looking for documents on our site is to use the business hub, link on home page this sets the main ones out in categories.
