Arisaig
A very interesting zoom meeting with the Arisaig community.
There are looking at an Aire for 20 to 30 motorcaravans.
Parking with water and waste .
They are looking at the possibility of a secure Aire with a warden as they want to create jobs as part of scheme.

Re: Arisaig
That's interesting Steve. Where abouts in Arisaig? Don't remember there being a lot of carparking in the village.
Re: Arisaig
Arisaig Community trust facebook group has some info.
Shorefront Project - Thank you once again to all those residents and businesses who provided feedback and ideas for the refurbishment and improvement of this stretch of land in the centre of the village. We have received planning consent for the Shorefront Project and are currently waiting for a decision on our grant application to the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund which is expected in the new year.
An Aire for Arisaig - We are delighted to announce that The Scottish Land Fund has awarded us a grant of £6,700 to conduct planning and feasibility activities for the aire project. We will keep you updated through West Word, our website and Facebook posts.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, worked and volunteered for us throughout 2020. From all of us at ACT, we wish you well and all the best for this festive time.

Arisaig Aire
Arisaig Community Trust has just submitted a grant application (today, 31 Jan) to the Highland Council Coastal Communities fund for £100k to part fund the establishment of a 30 space aire just outside the village of Arisaig (a 10 minute walk into the village). We currently estimate the total cost for the site will be in the region of £250k although this will include an amenity block with toilets, showers and a self-service laundry. The basic aire will include chemical waste disposal, grey water and rubbish disposal. Fresh water will be available. I have included the CAMpRA survey results as part of our submission. Any support you can give would be appreciated. Email address for the group dealing with the applications is coastal.communities@highland.gov.uk. Our application is Ref 41. Any additional evidence that an aire does not take business from traditional campsites would be most useful as this is where the opposition is coming from.
Re: Arisaig
Please download our “Campsites with an Aire” template which can be modified or “camping sites help us” document.
We are trying to include campsites and are in discussions with several Scottish tourism bodies but we tend to use the example that a touring motorcaravan will not use campsites due to several reasons:+
Do not want to pre book months ahead
Sites often full
Most sites demand a minimum stay
Most sites are seasonal when 82% of UK motorcaravans tour year round
Many not located close to towns and tourist venues (we do not have a car)
We only need to park not Camp Aires do not allow external equipment
Many smaller sites are grass pitches which are unusable for most of the year by motorcaravans
We ask the planning authorities to understand that the needs of touring self contained motorcaravans are different to caravans therefore a different market, you would not refuse consent for a B&B to open in the same village as a 5 star hotel as it may effect the grade of the Hotel!
In fact councils cannot be seen to be anti competitive and giving preference to one business over another so refusing planning consent on the basis it may compete with campsites is in breach of their remit

Re: Arisaig
We need as many people as possible to support this application. Many members have been supporting crowdfunding for facilities. This is a much bigger project and needs plenty of support. Please use the documents in the resources to pick out supporting facts. Individual letters with slightly different wording works much better than using the templates without amendment.
