As some of you know, I live in York and I have seen the thousands of motorhomes bypass this wonderful city, heading for the coast, and I’ve often thought that if York had an Aire (or two!) then we could encourage more of those vans to stop and visit York. Bringing business and trade.
For about 18 months, I have been working with (more like pestering
‘Simon,
I am pleased to confirm that there was agreement at our management meeting yesterday to progress the parking facility for motorhomes.
I have looked at the area to the side of the Ebor Ring with the clock tower and the self storage containers which is a gravelled area and given the 3m spacing required this can accommodate 8 or 9 motorhomes.
I now need to look at a foul waste disposal hopper to fit onto existing manhole and also an electricity hook-up, probably for 2 units initially. When I have done some further groundwork I will contact you again to look at promoting the site and getting up and running for Easter.’
Now I’m no expert so I will be working with the CAMpRA leadership to provide the necessary guidance and advice, but it just goes to show what could be achieved across our beautiful country.
