Spotlight on 59 Degrees North Aire
Sanday, Orkney
About the Aire
59 Degrees North was the first dedicated Motorhome Aire in Orkney, and opened in 2021 thanks to advice and support from CAMpRA.
This 5 van Aire is located in Sanday, which is dominated by sand dunes and unspoilt beaches and is the largest of the northerly Orkney Isles. There is plenty of space on the site which has a four acre wildflower field, and stunning views out to sea on three sides!
There is a small café on site which is open weekdays, and on Thursday and Friday evenings this offers the UK’s most Northerly wood-fired pizza oven.
There are two well stocked shops on the island where you can help support local businesses by ensuring you ‘Shop where you stop’. They also sell petrol & diesel.
Whilst at the aire you can visit the stunning nearby beaches, watch the wildlife, including whales, and during the winter months you can catch the Northern lights and the midnight sun.
As well as running this Aire and café, owner Jon has been an asset to CAMpRA and the motorhoming community, since he runs the online shop for CAMpRA merchandise (as well as for the Motorhomes and Campervans against Litter), so if you have one of their stickers, or maybe a hoodie or see a CAMpRA star rating sign at another Aire, this is where they have come from.
