Spotlight on Dave’s Rest Aire

Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness

About the Aire

Dave’s Rest nestles between the mountains and the shores of Loch Ness, in easy walking distance to Drumnadrochit. It was established by owner Janet, who lives close by running her other property rental business, in an area that was previously her father’s builders’ yard. Named for him, Dave’s Rest has now developed into a safe hard-standing environment for overnight parking with services. It has a very memorable reception area inside an old coach, which has a seating area outside so you can sit and relax and chat with fellow guests.

Dave’s Rest pre-dates the formation of CAMpRA, but has certainly helped to inspire some of us who have since opened our own aires, after having experienced the welcome and facilities offered here on our own travels. It is now a CAMpRA Accredited Aire, thanks to members visiting and completing the recommendation form.

It is conveniently located for visits to the Loch Ness Monster Centre and Exhibitions, to tour the ruins of Castle Urquhart, take boat trips on Loch Ness and to shop where you stop in the local gift stores, cafes and inns. Drumnadrochit is a convenient base for day trips to Isle of Skye and as a start or end to the NC500. There are beautiful local walks including through the ancient Balmacaan woods and up to the Falls of Divach.
