New County Council

Post by Nigel Bussell »

Morning.

As Somerset is now a unitary authority and most of the councillors were replaced at the start of April I have this morning emailed the new leader extolling the virtues of Aires. Will update when and if I hear anything.

Wow less than 2 hours got this back.

Hello Nigel

Thank you for your interesting suggestion.

As you might imagine, bringing together the five councils with different policies on our car parks has been tricksy to say the least.

I will pass on your suggestion to the Lead councillor on this and to the team and see if this is a possible way forwards.

Take care

Bill

Cllr Bill Revans (He/Him)

Leader, Somerset Council

Lets wait and see.

Latest update.

Looks like something may be happening in Minehead.

Apparently we are already working on launching a pilot project in Minehead already to understand how this might work. I will let you know more when I know more!

Take care

Bill

Thats great please offer assistance if required as CAMpRA are working with several councils on possibly overnight stays.
We have lots of information in our business that is free from them to access and use

Just got this tonight

Dear Mr Bussell
Thank you for your emails.
Making parking space available for motorhomes is on our radar and will form a strand of our forthcoming parking strategy review.

Thats great, please let them know that a member of the CAMpRA leadership would be happy to assist then, we are working with several councils on motorcaravan parking strategies.
Also they can make use of any of the information on our business hub https://campra.org.uk/business-hub/

If we can get them to engage it ensures that they have the facts and not making decisions with incomplete information
